The Naturpark Gantrisch sits just outside the city of Bern, but many Swiss people don't know that it exists (at least, most of the ones that I polled). It's a lovely, quiet region filled with sweeping fields, fat cows, cats, cheerful farmers, and the most breathtaking mountain vistas you can find in Switzerland.
The park is a protected area of Switzerland, and although there are quiet villages within the park, you won't find malls or sprawling suburbs. I spent ten days on a farm there (more on that later, believe me), but in the meantime, here are some pictures.
Extra points go to anyone who can identify the strange animal with the antlers!
