A Modern Retelling

One of my favorite things about Los Angeles is the fact that you can turn a corner and find yourself in a completely insular world.  I was exploring my neighborhood the other day, and turned down a street I had never seen before.  It felt like a movie set from some bizarre science fiction movie set in the 1960s, replete with bleached white trees and houses propped up with stilts.  Everything was done in the same style, never straying too far from the same color scheme.  There were spiffy old sports cars and a chrome mobile home in perfect condition.  Everything smelled like honeysuckle.  I kept looking for the camera crew, but aside from a few idle birds, I was the only one there.
