Kathamandu was a smoggy, depressing wasteland, and I was glad to leave. I took a nine hour bus journey from the capitol out to the lower Himalayas, and even though I was fighting off sickness, I was able to enjoy the beauty of the countryside. Nepal is a wonderful country, and the rural areas are charming.
I visited Pokhara on the recommendation of a few friends. The lakeside town is the gateway to the Himalayas, and one of the most popular places to start off a trek. After being badgered by numerous tour guides to purchase an expensive trekking package (most were upwards of $400), I decided to risk it and set off on my own.
That was the last that anyone ever heard from me.
I'm kidding, of course. Who do you think writes this blog?
Stay tuned to see details of my trekking adventures!
