A Light in the Darkness: Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Some of my friends have experienced massive culture shock after returning to America from South East Asia, but I didn't have to go home to feel that same jolt.  Visiting Kuala Lumpur for a few days was shocking enough, especially after traveling through dusty, exotic Myanmar

Kuala Lumpur (or KL, to locals) is a bustling, cosmopolitan city that didn't feel too far removed from an American hub.  The city boasts glittering shopping malls, wide, clean boulevards, and yes, quite a number of Starbucks locations.  I managed to refrain from visiting them.

I didn't have too much time in the city, but I did my best to visit a few places that you can't find in America.
